ABOUT
about

I graduated with a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts / Tufts where I studied painting under Barnet Rubenstein and Henry Shwartz. A large part of my professional life was spent in the publishing world as a book designer and art director, but I always made time to paint. I’m happy to say that I’ve recently stepped away from the 9-5 to paint full-time.
I’m captivated by the colors, contrasts, shapes, and textures found in natural settings. I feel fortunate to live in New England where these elements are in a continual state of flux (at least that’s what I tell myself in February.) Marshes and meadows are a recurring theme. They project such an airy minimalism, belying a surprisingly complex visual and ecological world. Settings where the natural world intersects with the manmade also trip my attention. There’s something about this intersection, the humble precision of manmade structures competing with nature’s casual confidence, that I find intriguing.
